The Persian Empire (Persian: امپراتوری ایران) was a series of historical empires that ruled over the Iranian plateau, the original Persian homeland, and beyond in Western Asia, Central Asia and the Caucasus. Today both names of Persia and Iran are common; 'Persia' mostly historical and cultural issues and 'Iran' mostly for political issues.
The most widespread entity considered to have been a Persian Empire was the Achaemenid Empire (550–330 BC) under Darius and Xerxes (or Xerkes) — famous in antiquity as the foe of the classical Greek states (See Greco-Persian Wars) — a united Persian kingdom that originated in the region now known as Pars province of Iran/Persia. It was formed under Cyrus the Great, who overthrew the empire of the Medes, and conquered much of the middle east, including the territories of the Babylonians (Asuristan), the Phoenicians, and the Lydians. Cyrus' son, Cambyses, continued Cyrus' conquests by conquering Egypt. Most of the |

I am so proud to be Persian, we have the best food, the most beautiful women, not to mention a strong culture.
No, I am not a terrorist. I don't live in a tent in a desert. I speak Farsi. Iran is pronounced "EERAUN" and not "I - ran" (it's not track & field). News flash: Iran and Iraq are two different countries; middle east is a region and NOT a continent; and camels are not our way of transportation. Belly dancers are NOT strippers: anyways belly dancing is an Arabic dance, it never came from Iran. The next time you play back gammon or polo; keep in mind persians gave you your game. Persian women are just as outspoken (if not more) and liberal as European women; and what the hell is "soccer"? -We also call it Football. Iran is the first country on earth to have a lion(male) and a |
